Five-time Group One winner Eremein has died aged 18 of colic, with Robrick Lodge reporting the sad news on Sunday.

Trained by Allan Denham for Geoff and Beryl White, Eremein won the 2005 Rosehill Guineas and Australian Derby.

The following autumn he added the Ranvet Stakes, BMW and Queen Elizabeth to his Group One record.

His career was interrupted by the equine influenza outbreak in 2007 and he was retired after winning the Festival Stakes by 3L in January 2008.

"It is with profound sadness we say goodbye to our old mate Eremein," a statement from Robrick Lodge said.

"A horse of character talent manners and of great heart, he remains the only horse to have won the Ranvet, Queen Elizabeth and the BMW in the one year.

"Bye old mate."
